UL Bohs 15 vs Shannon 9
Weds 9th April
Under 15 League Final Result
Scorers: Enda Carroll
& Neil Cronin try each, Cormac Fay pen and con
Referee: Tommy O’Donoghue
The
game started with Shannon forcing us to concede three early scrums
which had us under pressure resulted in them getting three points
from 20 metres out. After settling down we dominated the remainder
of the half. Our first try came from a thrilling break down the
left wing by Enda Carroll who fought off two defenders before going
in at the left corner and touching down under the posts. The conversion
was completed by Cormac Fay. Shannon responded immediately with
a well struck penalty. After twenty minutes we mauled well from
a scrum in the middle and again we broke down the left wing with
Neil Cronin bursting for the line and his tenacity was eventually
rewarded with a try close to the corner flag. The conversion attempt
failed with us leading 12-0 playing good support rugby. We varied
our attack and were pinning them inside their 22 and were awarded
a penalty at the stroke of half time which we converted to leave
the score 15-06 to us at the break. You would have thought that
we should have continued with more of the same for the second half
but sport is unpredictable and we were forced to defend for long
periods in the second half. Their pressure was eventually rewarded
with a penalty and with eight minutes to go the match could go either
way. To compound matters we had two players yellow carded within
two minutes of each other. Shannon piled on the pressure but our
lads were heroic and dogged in defence. All the training over the
years paid off and we eventually lifted the siege and played the
last three minutes inside their 22 and were unlucky not to increase
our lead. The final whistle sounded to joyous scenes of celebration.
Overall the heroic defence and never say die attitude of these players
resulted in us capturing this trophy. Full credit to Shannon who
made us work very hard indeed for this long overdue win. We are
loathe to single out players who to a man defended and attacked
in numbers.

Well done again last night. It must be said at this stage that the
coaches of the U-15 squad deserve a great deal of credit to say the
least. As a group you have shown great dedication, interest, sensitivity
and skill in bringing this bunch of kids this far and their resolve
as a team last night is a tribute to you guys. I'm sure all the parents
are really appreciative

North Munster Under 15
Cup
Sunday 13th April
Venue: Kilballyowen Park Bruff
Result: Bruff (3) 03 UL Bohemians (0) 0
Referee: Mick Wrenn
After the highs of last week it was back to basics with the core non
JCT group that we have worked with all season. Only two of last Wednesday’s
team was eligible to play this game plus we had another Cormac Fay
who broke his left thumb in the League final unavailable for this
game. After Xmas we played Bruff in a friendly and suffered a very
heavy defeat. However there was no repeat of this result as the players
played superbly and there was a definite rub off effect from the League
Final win. Many players played above themselves with early commitment
to the tackle. The game was played in perfect conditions with constant
sunshine and little or no breeze. We went behind with an early penalty
and were fortunate not to concede a try shortly afterwards. Before
half time Barry Neville was just wide with a penalty attempt. Excluding
the last five minutes, this game was fought out between both 22’s
with both teams working hard in defence. We were camped inside their
22 for the last five minutes and to be fair to Bruff they played some
great defensive rugby. Our lads gave their all but came up short,
very short indeed and they can be proud of themselves and their efforts
throughout this long season
